About this map
One dot for every 25 people in the 2020 Census at full zoom, thinned to 1 per 500 for the national view. Dots are placed at random inside the census block where those people were counted, so they mark the block, not the house.
Blank land is land where the census counted no one. Where that land is a park (or golf course), cemetery or airport in the Census landmark files, it is shaded; most other blank land is rail yards, ports, industry, highways or vacant lots.
Groups other than Hispanic or Latino are non-Hispanic. "Other or multiracial" combines American Indian and Alaska Native, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, some other race, and two or more races.
